In 2019, the team that celebrated the 50th anniversary of Herbie was invited to the 24h race of Spa.
The base of the car was not the GT3 Porsche, but the cheaper Cup MR bought from Manthey team, created for VLN marathone. Because it was 150k cheaper. The “Herbie” car was named Juliet.
The extraordinary design of this 911 in the style of the Herbie Beetle certainly attracts a lot of attention.
But the most interesting thing is that despite the “comic” nature, the results were quite serious. During the first part of the 24h race, Deman’s team managed to successfully break through the field. Since the race started from the one bofe last position, with 6 sec difference of Q time from the leader. This was a real shock for the professional GT3 teams, who saw the receding rear of this Beetle 911 in front of them.
