The Ferrari F50.

The icon of 90’s Supercars. The peak of engineering and design from Maranello. And one of the cars, that was powered by detuned F1 engine.

Also it was a peak of BPR/FIA GT racing. So Ferrari did not want to miss a chance to kich Porsche’s **s in top level GT racing. Thats how they started to prepare F50 into GT1 version. Moreover Ferrari already had street version of the car and did not need to figure out this homologation issue. But, Porsche were not sitting doing nothing. They were prepairing a heavy weapon for 1996 year, brand new racing Porsche 996 GT1. It was the one of many cases in future, when street car was converted from race car, for homolagions reasons, and not vise versa.

After all, Ferrari decided to cancell the program. Porsches (photoshooted the before) were far ahead in technical aspects. So Scuderia put maximum attention to prototypes and F1 instead.

Nevertheless, living legend F50 GT1 1996 still one of the coolest and unique GT cars today.
